Starting a new sports club

Please note that there will be no new clubs will be started between September 2018 - June 2019.

You will need:

  1. At least 3 students to form your committee.

  2. At least 10 people who are interested to become members of your club.

  3. Enough time to run your core activities and keep members up to date.

The Process:

  1. Fill in this form to apply for a new sports club

  2. We'll send you an agreement which you'll need to fill in online.

  3. Once approved, all committee members will need to fill out this form

  4. We will get you set up on the website, and make your President/Chair an admin for your club. You can then go and edit your page details, and accept members.

  5. You will have 6 weeks to get at least 10 members - clubs smaller than this will be disaffiliated.

What you get from the Students' Union:

•Recognition of your committee position on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).

•Support in running your club.

•Ability to book rooms/facilities in the university.

•Accept members and associated fees.

•Advice and help in running matches/activities/events/competitions.

•Storage for your sports equipment.

•Space (if you want) at Welcome Fair and Welcome Back Week.

•Your work will contribute to your Gold Award & HEAR

In return of setting up a new sports club, we expect the following of you:

•To have at least 10 full members within six weeks of being an official club.

•Adhere to the sports code of conduct.

•Show respect to everyone, as you represent the SU as a club.

•Run events and projects in line with our policies and procedures.

•Attend mandatory events - sports captains meetings etc.

•To be active in running activities for your members.

•Handle your money through the SU.

•Represent the university in a professional and sporting manner.
