Minibus and transport

We do have the opportunity to hire minibuses and transport for clubs, especially if you're looking to go to a conference, training or a competition!

Please read below our procedure for hiring/driving to external events.

MIDAS Training

The Union will make provision for Free of Charge MIDAS training to two members from each club, provided that:-

•The member is at least 21 years of age

•The member has held their UK/GB license for at least 2 years with the requirements listed below

The club has at least three external events to attend in the academic year.

Registered minibus drivers

Drivers of the Minibus must meet the following requirements:-

•Be MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) Driver trained and assesses.

•Be registered as a member with an affiliated Goldsmiths Club or society at the Students’Union

•Be over 21 years of age

•Has held a UK/GB license for at least 2 years

•Have no convictions of‘at fault’accidents

•Have no disability or medical condition, which in the opinion of the LCTS (Lewisham Community Transport Scheme) insurers will, or may, affect ability to drive

Hiring a coach

A coach may be hired externally when a club legitimately needs transport to an activity at the same time that the Goldsmiths Students’Union Minibus is being used, or when the SU feels the journey is too far for a student to drive the minibus.

To avoid disappointment, please contact us as soon as you have booked your event. A Minibus must be booked by the activities team or booked in advance with their approval (at least 5 days).

Hired coaches must be booked via Tolu, or booked in advance with their approval. Notice of at least 5 days must be given for all requests for booking a hired vehicle. The policy tends to be over 1 hour public transport will result in coach consideration.
