Ideas for posters

Ideas for engaging posters

  • Make it bright and colourful!

  • Experiment with your typography - but make sure we can read it. There are lots of different things you can do with the text - if your event is all about football, why not use footballs to create the text?! This is Goldsmiths after all, get those creative juices flowing! Just remember that if people can't read your poster they won't attend your event.

  • Rank your information in order of importance on your poster. Make sure the most important information (Event name) is in bold or a larger font and group smaller details together.

  • Sometimes less is more. A dramatic word or image can be more eye-catching than a poster filled to the brim with information!

  • Use shapes on your poster - if you're putting on a bake sale, why not put the text inside the shape of a cupcake? This will help convey the message of the poster easily so people don't have to stop and read!

  • If the event is funny, make the poster funny! People are more likely to attend if the poster puts a smile on their face.

You're surrounded by so many creative people at Goldsmiths, so be sure to use their skills! Whether that's a photographer, illustrator, calligrapher or graphic designer, you'll be able to find somebody in your society to give you the poster you need.
