Fundraising

Fundraising

Sports teams can fundraise additional money for their activity.

This can be done by charging for entry to your events in order to get the money together to put on larger events. Good fundraising events include:

  • Themed pub quiz - £1 entry per player

  • Open Mic Night

  • Themed book exchange - pay £3 and bring three books, take away three books

  • Bake sales also are a great way to raise funds for your future expenses.

If you’re doing a bake sale, you will need to fill out this form and you will need one of these allergy signs up. Please print at least one!

Raising money for a charity

If you wish to fundraise for charity, it must first be authorised by the Sports Coordinator. Please note that due to the SU’s status as a registered charity, societies can only fundraise for UK registered charities.

Fundraising for charities must be directed through our RAG account. This essentially means that the money will never go into your Sports Team account, it will be put into the Raising and Giving Account then sent to the charity.

Why?

  • Sports teams cannot give money that already exists in their sports team account to charity due to current UK charity law.

  • We must be able to account for any money we give to other charities. The RAG account means all of the money for charities is labelled correctly and easy to find.

Please get in touch about this if you are unsure - it’s super important we get this right.
