Socials Policy

Socials Policy

The aim of this policy is to ensure socials are accessible to all members. As a committee member for the sports team, you have a duty of care to ensure socials are inclusive and offer a way for all members to be involved. Every sports team member also has a responsibility to uphold the code of conduct standards.

Participation in all socials for a sports club should be completely optional for all members. The following should be adhered to for all socials:

  • Activities should not be forced, exclusive or alcohol dependent.

  • Initiations are not permitted.

  • Participation is not a prerequisite for selection and inclusion within a Club.

  • Committee members have a duty of care ensuring the safety of members participating and to ensure responsible behaviour takes place.

  • Members can opt out without fear of undue pressure, reprisal or any form of other discrimination at any point.

Any breach of this policy will result in a disciplinary hearing under the provisions set out in the Students’ Union constitution, and may be referred to the College. For more information about disciplinary action, disciplinary procedures and potential sanctions please click here.
